Changes at O’Reilly’s Carlisle office from May 2011

Following the planned retirement of John McLaren and the death of Jim Cochrane, two partners based at our Carlisle office, the remaining partners have decided that the Carlisle practice will be merged with Armstrong Watson’s who are a well-known firm of Accountants with a strong presence in the Carlisle area. This decision has not been taken lightly and has been made with the best interests of the Carlisle clients at heart and it does not affect any of the other offices of O’Reilly’s.

All staff of the O’Reilly Carlisle Office will be based at the Carlisle offices of Armstrong Watson ensuring continuity of client work during the merger and in the future. We wish them all every success.

We would like to reassure clients of the Penrith, Hawes and Leyburn offices of O’Reilly that they will be completely unaffected by the changes that are occurring at Carlisle. They will continue to be clients of O’Reilly’s and will deal with the same people that they have always dealt with.

Tony Little will retire as a partner of the firm, but will continue on a consultancy basis at the Hawes office.

Lambing Live - What an Experience!

Photo: Rachel Marston in "Lambing Live"

It’s 8 months since we were contacted by the BBC regarding a new series of the very popular Lambing Live which last year was from a Welsh family farm. We had many questions, would we live up to expectations, why us, we are just an ordinary family farm, could we cope with the pressure of television crews at lambing time?

But after speaking to the BBC and last year’s hosts, Jim & Kate Beavan, we realised that this was an opportunity not to be missed and a real experience for us all especially our children Catherine (aged 10) Abigail (aged 7) and Olivia (aged 1).

We hoped that the show would promote the most amazing landscape we live in, show people a glimpse of farming through the seasons, and most importantly to us, family life.

The series has now finished and we have had a truly fantastic time, life on the farm seems very dull but I’m sure normal life will be resumed shortly. We have been overwhelmed by the response of people both near and far and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and good wishes.
