tax credit delays - July 2003

The issue of delays in the processing of tax credits by the Inland Revenue has received considerable press coverage recently. Although the initial deadline of 5th July for submitting claims for tax credits from 5th April 2003 has now passed, any further delay in submitting an application will reduce the amount you can claim.

If you were receiving Working Families Tax Credit or you claimed the Children’s Tax Credit in 2001/02 or 2002/03, you should have automatically received an application form for the new tax credits. If you do not have children, you will not qualify for the Child Tax Credit but you may still be entitled to the Working Tax Credit.
