Please Beware - December 2010
H M Revenue and Customs have warned taxpayers of phone calls pretending
to be from the department where taxpayers are advised they are due a
tax rebate and are asked to provide bank card details over the phone.
HMRC have confirmed they only contact taxpayers by post if they are due
a tax refund and anyone receiving such a phone call should under no circumstances
divulge their bank details. This may result in funds being taken from
their bank account or their details being sold on to other organised
criminal gangs.
