Enquiry into a Client's Tax Return - December 2007
The tax authorities can open an enquiry into a Tax Return within a year of the filing deadline. For 2007/08 returns, the "window" will be one year from the date the return is received by H.M. Revenue and Customs, and no longer the filing deadline, finally offering an incentive for filing Tax Returns early.
We encourage all clients to let us have their accounts and tax papers as early as possible following their period end, and this will become more important from next year's return.
