£3,000 Fine for London Nursery Owner Who Paid Below The National Minimum
Wage - December 2007
In a recent legal newsletter received, we noticed that a nursery situated
in east London, has been fined £3,000 in the first national minimum wage
criminal prosecution.
This prosecution sends a message to employers that H.M. Revenue and
Customs may actively pursue those whom they suspect are not following
the national minimum wage law.
The National Minimum Wage Act has six potential offences each carrying
a maximum £5,000 fine and criminal record.
