HMRC changing banks - May 2009

During 2009 HMRC will be changing its banking business to RBS and Citi.

If you are receiving payments from HMRC then you need not do anything.

If you make payments to HMRC then you might need to take action as follows:

  • payments by direct debit - no action required
  • direct payment using internet or phone (including BACS & CHAPS) - no action at the moment. However, you will need to quote a new sort code and account number to your own bank/building society once HMRC have moved to the new banks
  • BillPay - no action required
  • post - no action required
  • Payment via your bank/building society/Post Office - continue to use the payslip provided as usual
